Five weeks, a dozen occasions, and one list so I'm never standing in front of the mirror with nothing on. Here's what I'm actually wearing this season, moment by moment: Thanksgiving knits, the holiday party stack, family photos, and the big sparkle at midnight.

The Halloween candy is still on the counter and I've already started making the list. Not the gift list (that's a different post, and it's coming). This one is the other list: the one I make for myself every November, so I'm not standing in front of the mirror at 6:45 on a Saturday with a sitter arriving and nothing on.

Between Thanksgiving and New Year's, there are more "occasions" in five weeks than in the rest of the year combined. School concerts. The neighbors' open house. The work party where you have to look pulled together but still be able to carry a toddler to the car. Family photos. The one night out that's actually just for you.

So here's my holiday edit, by moment. Every piece is solid gold, made in New York, and built to survive the season, including the part where your three-year-old grabs your wrist on the way to the table.

Thanksgiving: Warm, Easy, Knit-Friendly

Thanksgiving is sweaters, a long table, and a lot of hugging. I want pieces that catch the light against a chunky knit and don't snag on anything.

  • Herringbone Chain Necklace: Liquid gold against a cream turtleneck. It lies flat, it glows, and it makes the simplest outfit look like a decision.
  • Mini Huggies: The ones that never come off. They survive naps, pie, and the cousin who insists on pulling your hair into a ponytail.
  • Mini Bezel-Set Round Birthstone Bracelet: One stone for each of the people around the table. It's the piece I get asked about the most, and it's the one I'd wear while I'm carving.
  • Twisted Rope Stacker Ring: Slim enough to live next to a wedding band, pretty enough to wear with nothing else.

The Holiday Party: The Stack I'm Known For

This is the night the wrist does the talking. Velvet, a good coat, a glass of something sparkling, and the two pieces I'd save in a fire.

  • Taylor Wave Bangle: Named after my daughter, and the piece I'm asked about more than anything I've ever made. A sculptural wave in solid 14kt gold that you can wear every day and someday hand down.
  • Signature Classic Diamond Tennis Bracelet: Worn right next to the Taylor. The wave and the sparkle together are the whole holiday in one wrist. If you only wear one stack this season, this is it.
  • Pave Small Diamond Hoops: A row of diamonds that hugs the ear. They catch candlelight like nothing else, and they're small enough to wear with your hair down.
  • Lila Lab Heart Diamond Necklace: A real heart-shaped diamond, sitting right at the collarbone. It's the piece that makes people lean in.

Family Photos and the Gift Exchange: The Sentimental Layer

For the matching pajamas, the card photo, and the morning everyone's on the floor in wrapping paper, I want the pieces that mean something when I look back at the pictures in ten years.

  • Mini Initial Necklace: One letter for each kid, layered. It photographs beautifully and it's the first thing people notice when they zoom in.
  • Puffy Heart Necklace: Sweet, a little nostalgic, and exactly right for the morning you're in pajamas with a coffee and a camera.
  • Engravable Horizontal Pendant Necklace: A date, their names, a word only you understand. Mine is the one I reach for when I want to carry them with me.
  • Diamond Mama Necklace: Because that's the title that matters most this time of year. And because someone should be spoiling you.

New Year's Eve: The Big Sparkle

Whether it's a real night out or the couch at 11:58 with a glass of champagne, I believe in dressing up for the toast. This is where the diamonds come out.

The One I'm Buying Myself

Every year I pick one piece that's just for me. No occasion, no hint, no "oh, you shouldn't have." This year it's the Polished Square Huggies. They're the grown-up hoop I keep reaching for, they go with everything on this list, and I've earned them. So have you.

A Few Season-Saving Notes

Take your rings off before you hand-wash the roasting pan. Wipe your gold down with a soft cloth after a night out (hairspray and perfume build up faster than you'd think). Keep the delicate chains in separate pouches when you travel, so you're not untangling them in a guest bathroom on Christmas Eve.

And if the calendar is already getting tight, the Ready to Ship collection is where I'd start. The Best Sellers are the other safe bet, because they're best sellers for a reason.

One more thing. Keep an eye on your inbox this week. Something silver is coming back, just in time for the holidays, and you'll hear it from me first.

Bookmark this one. Send it to the friend who texts you "what are you wearing tonight?" every single December. And tell me which moment you're dressing for this year. I read every reply.

XO Olivia
